I can’t see her anywhere. I’m sure this is where she told me to meet her. A Giant Chirop flies slowly by and looks up at me with empty eyes. All of a sudden its eyes are wide open and it flies away in fear. I turn around slowly, suddenly looking straight into the barrel of a gun. Then I hear a giggle and the gun is lowered. “Where did you come from?” I ask. “Well silly, you’re standing two meters from a f-grid spot, lets go to the bar shall we?” One second she’s there, the next she’s gone leaving only a cloud of dust around me. Five minutes later I arrive at Reets Retreat. I struggle my way up the ramp to the entrance of the bar. Inside I decide to head for the bathroom to freshen up after the long walk. I make a wrong turn and end up in a grotesque cave of some kind with a dead man hanging from the roof. I change my mind and head for the bar instead. Tomifix sits in the couch on the second floor of the discotheque, she taps her watch. “Took your time, didn’t you”, she says, hiding a smile. I order a big jug of Reet beer and sit down in the couch with a sigh. “Well, not everyone can run faster than a Yalm flies” I say. After some minutes discussing the last match for West Athen Chargers we decide to start the interview.
"All fixers become speed addicts"
"You chose fixer as profession when you landed on Rubi-Ka, how do you like the prof and what do you think is the best part of being a fixer?" "I love being fixer. What’s the best part of it? No doubt it’s the speed. All fixers become speed addicts."
"You took over the president chair during a turbulent time in TRB, a lot of issues needed to be sorted out. How was this experience for you?" "It was actually very useful. I got to know the members and officers of TRB in a different way than I would otherwise. It also helped me pulling out those resources I had left slumbering in me for too long. TRB have been through a storm or two before, so I knew we’d get safe through this time as well. We have good and experienced leaders that were pulling in the same direction and this made the job way easier." She snaps her fingers to the bartender and points towards her empty beer jug. Clumsy he hurries to fill up a new one and brings it over to her. She drinks half of it in one sip, then focus on me again to continue the interview.
"During your time as president, what do you think was the hardest part and what brought you most joy?" "There is no doubt that one of the hardest parts is conflicts between people. Often in these situation more people get involved than necessary and it inflicts a huge part of the org, although this is not intentionally. What brought me most joy are the little things. Things like when someone give generously out of their time or material goods to help others out, feedback from other orgs about our good reputation, a great raid, a day when you feel that TRB is really alive. You know, when chat is not quiet and loads of members are online and teamed up with each other."
"Every new member is a new friend"
"What do you think TRB and its members can get better at, goals we should set for the future?" "There are lots of really creative members in TRB, and lots of fun ideas floating around. I’d like to see more of it put into action. I want to say this to all our members: The idea is no use inside your head. Put it to good use. All things we can do together will make us stronger. The officers only have that much time and can’t always arrange all ideas presented. Another thing that I think is very important is to include new members as much as possible. TRB is building on friendship, and every new member is a new friend. Sadly some of our oldies have been forced back to RK4 and we need a refill now and then if we want to achieve our goal of raiding harder stuff." A couple enters the dance floor area under us. It’s a clan atrox and a neutral solitus shade. They lay down in a couch underneath us and starts to make out. Then the girl discovers that we can see their every move through the glass floor. She pushes the atrox away and they both hurry out the door to a move private location.
"We still aim to have fun!"
"What do you think makes TRB special from all the other orgs out there?" "Lots of the older and bigger orgs are falling apart these days. Reason for this in many cases are that they have kept a too strong focus on being all about highbie stuff, not bothering about fun, new members, solidarity, staying together. By the time they realized they needed to adjust they way of thinking because their old members moved on to RK4, it was too late. The combination of friendship and organizing makes TRB unique. We still aim to have fun!"
"Are there any funny episodes you would like to share with The Daily Red?" "Hehehe, the episode that first comes to mind now is the Kobias incidence. For those that do not know about him: Kobias contacted several of the generals and me with an offer to spy in his omni org and give us info about when they were supposed to attack us. Of course he wanted to be paid for this. He actually kept going for 2 weeks sending tells to misc persons in TRB. You might wonder what price he put on this. He wanted a yalm…. Yes, a yalm. Needless to say, he never got a cred from either of us, and we never wanted any info from him."
She grabs my hand
"Any last comments?" "More action and less talking is often good, so I’m done now. Well, what do you know… That was a last comment after all."
“Are we done then?” she asks. “Yes, that’s all I got for you”. “Good, come here” she says. She grabs my hand, concentrates, a flashy blue light starts at her right hand and shortly surrounds us both. The blue flash is so strong that I can’t see anything around me. I get a feeling of falling, fast. I close my eyes, then all of a sudden I’m standing still again. And when I open them I’m inside the grid.
